Ruxy Cantir brings her critically acclaimed, award-winning solo show Pickled Republic to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase. Running from 31 July to 25 August (excluding 11 and 18 August) at Summerhall’s Anatomy Lecture Theatre, this surreal theatrical cabaret promises 50 minutes of vegetable absurdity, existential dread, and feather boas.

Encased in a metaphorical pickle jar, Cantir uses clowning, puppetry, mask theatre, and physical comedy to portray a cast of pickled vegetable characters—including a tomato and a potato-headed lounge singer—each grappling with the absurdity of existence. With pitch-black humour and pulpy carnage, Pickled Republic explores the human need for purpose in a world that often feels senseless.
