Small Truth Theatre presents the world première of nest, a new play by award-winning Australian playwright Katy Warner, which will also be Warner’s English debut. This female-led production, directed by Yasmeen Arden, will star Charlotte Jane Higgins (Shakespeare At The Abbey (The Globe)) as Jade and Arthur McBain (Snowy Fleet in Friday on my Mind (ABC Television); Dunsinane (Royal Shakespeare Company)) as Liam.

Jade is alone, always alone, until one night Liam accidently knocks on her door looking for a party. What he finds is more beautiful then he could ever imagine, yet it might just break them both. Set against an isolated council estate, nest is the beautifully messy love story of two people forgotten by society, with nowhere left to turn but to each other.

Nest was shortlisted from 1,600 plays during the Theatre503   playwriting award 2016 and also for Live Theatre’s Live Lab Bursary 2017. Small Truth Theatre are proud to present the world premiere of this striking & witty new play as part of VAULT Festival 2018.

Director Yasmeen comments; “I see the relevance of nest grow every day. Set in inner-city Britain it has strong themes of what it is to be young and left behind by a fast-moving society where you don’t quite belong; a world challenged with mental health, a place that neglects social housing and those who live there. Being a lifelong resident of North Kensington myself has, without doubt, shown these issues to be more important than ever.”

nest is at VAULT Festival 28th February until 4th  March 2018.
