The new musical The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, adapted from the acclaimed romantic-fantasy novel, is set to have its second workshop in May 2025 before a full stage production in 2026. This timeless romance between a young widowed mother and the ghost of a sea captain explores themes of liberation from grief and loneliness.

Obioma Ugoala, known for originating Kristoff in Theatre Royal Drury Lane’s Frozen and George Washington in Hamilton, will bring Captain Gregg to life. Alongside him, Olivier-nominated Laura Pitt-Pulford, renowned for her performances in Standing at the Sky’s Edge and The Light Princess, will play Mrs. Muir.

The cast also includes Olivier Award nominees Preeya Kalidas (Bombay Dreams, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) as Martha and Sharif Afifi (The Band’s Visit, Hadestown) as Miles. Julie Armstrong (Follies, Network) will play Eva, with Patrick Clancy (Dick Turpin, Young Frankenstein) as Mr. Coombe. Connor Ewing (The Phantom Of The Opera, Nativity! The Musical) will take on the role of Cyril Muir, and Rowan Macpherson (Babies, The Last Five Years) will play Anna Muir.

Carmel Dean, known for her work on Clueless and Renascence, has written the music and lyrics, with direction from Kenneth Hoyt (The Blue Hour of Natalie Barney, The Sea Plays). The show’s book is by novelist and playwright Penelope Faith, with Richard Roland serving as Associate Director and Candida Caldicot as Musical Director. Raymond Sage is the Creative Consultant, and the show is produced by Scott Ihrig.
