The National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of “The Ocean at the End of the Lane” is returning to Salford this October due to popular demand. Based on Neil Gaiman’s best-selling novel and adapted for the stage by Joel Horwood and directed by Katy Rudd, the production has been traveling across the UK and Ireland visiting 29 towns and cities. The show, which blends magic and memory, tells the story of a man who returns to his childhood home and is transported back in time to his 12th birthday, when his friend Lettie claimed a pond was actually an ocean full of magic and possibility.

Steve Cowton, Head of Theatre Operations at The Lowry, said, “We were blown away by the audience response when we presented this show at Christmas, and we’re delighted that the National Theatre have agreed to extend their tour by a week so we can bring the show back to Salford.” The 17-member ensemble cast includes Charlie Brooks, Millie Hikasa, Kemi-Bo Jacobs, and Finty Williams, among others.

The award-winning creative team behind the production includes set designer Fly Davis, costume and puppet designer Samuel Wyer, movement director Steven Hoggett, composer Jherek Bischoff, and many more. Assisted performances, including a sign language interpreted performance and an audio-described performance, will be available at every venue on the tour.

Tickets for the UK and Ireland tour can be purchased online at oceanonstage.com. The public can buy tickets starting Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, while The Lowry members can buy tickets today. Don’t miss your chance to experience this thrilling journey of fantasy, myth, and friendship.
