Songs arrive in a personalised YouTube video showing the lyrics, so you can all sing along if you wish and a selection of photos of the recipient are used as backgrounds to create a beautiful visual experience to share online or in person.
Roulston & Young have been writing songs and performing together since 2005 and like many freelancers, the pandemic hit them hard. “We missed gigging and connecting with an audience. We also missed being in a room together, side by side at the piano, writing songs. While much of the world discovered the joys of Zoom meetings and working from home in their slipper socks, we discovered we could collaborate remotely too (albeit with the occasional “I think you’ve frozen” and “try switching on and off again”). Since we couldn’t perform live, we decided to offer our song writing skills to the public. Our first three commissions were a heartfelt birthday gift from a group of friends, a funny song dedicated to an aunt in Australia and a personal tribute inspired by someone’s own poetry. Word of mouth spread and our new Bespoke Song writing service was born. It has turned out to be a wonderful way of doing what we love whilst bringing friends, families and couples together. It’s been a pleasure to learn about the interesting and diverse lives of people we may never meet and celebrate them in song.”
