The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has announced the full casting for its upcoming production of Titus Andronicus, directed by Max Webster. The play will run at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from April 17 to June 7, 2025.
Simon Russell Beale returns to the RSC to play the title role. Beale, an RSC Associate Artist, was last seen in Gregory Doran’s production of The Tempest. His extensive credits include King Lear, Ghosts, Richard III, and The Seagull. He has won three Olivier Awards and a Tony Award for his performance in The Lehman Trilogy.
Natey Jones will play Aaron. Jones’s previous RSC credits include Doctor Faustus and The Alchemist. His other theatre work includes Small Island and Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical.
Emma Fielding returns to the RSC as Marcia Andronicus. Fielding’s RSC credits include Cymbeline and Measure for Measure. She has also appeared in the PBS remake of Van Der Valk and the BBC series Strike: The Ink Black Heart.
Wendy Kweh will play Tamora. Kweh’s previous RSC credits include Snow in Midsummer. Her other theatre work includes Much Ado About Nothing and Top Girls.
Letty Thomas returns to the RSC to play Lavinia. Thomas’s theatre credits include Strategic Love Play and Grounded. She has also appeared in Bridgerton and The Crown.
The full company includes Jeremy Ang Jones, Marlowe Chan-Reeves, Danny Collins, Ned Costello, Joshua James, Thomas Josling, Joel MacCormack, Jerone Marsh-Reid, and Sharita Oomeer.
Director Max Webster makes his RSC debut with this production. His recent credits include The Importance of Being Earnest and Life of Pi. Webster said, “I have always been fascinated, curious, and horrified by Titus Andronicus. Around Simon Russell Beale, we have assembled an insanely talented company, including Natey Jones, Emma Fielding, Wendy Kweh, and Letty Thomas.”
The creative team includes Set and Costume Designer Joanna Scotcher, Lighting Designer Lee Curran, Composer Matthew Herbert, Sound Designer Tingying Dong, Movement Director Jade Hackett, and Fight and Intimacy Directors Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown.
