Circolombia Underbelly Southbank Festival

Circolombia Underbelly Southbank Festival

Today circus performers brought guts, grace and gusto, direct from Bogota to London’s Southbank as Circolombia begins its headline run at the Underbelly Festival until 14th July.

Cast members showcased some of the most technically challenging circus skills from the show including; the Russian Bar, the beautiful aerial ‘Clowd Swing’ and the unconceivable ‘Perch’, a circus skill which is undertaken by no other circus company in the world.

The highly acclaimed show packed full of explosive Latin energy from a fourteen strong cast of world class circus artists, captures the endless dynamic force of Colombian life through relentless performance and jaw dropping skill. Circolombia is no ordinary circus.

Rounding off a hugely successful global tour, including a smash hit Edinburgh Fringe run, Circolombia comes to London to headline the Underbelly Southbank Festival. Coupled with live original music and electrifying singers, Circolombia delivers world-class, gravity defying performances that will have audiences shaking their heads in disbelief and dancing in the aisles to the beat-heavy soundscape.

Best described as a ‘circo-concierto’ (circus concert) due to the integral role music plays throughout the show. With daring circus artists singing and rapping live to an original score whilst performing astounding acrobatic feats, music is not just important to the show, it’s essential. Circolombia showcases incredible circus skills performed with an infectious energy and extraordinary dynamism that constitutes the hallmark of Circolombia’s artists. This combination of a powerful, original soundtrack with live performance alongside raw, wild individual and collective energy garnered by the troupe on stage creates a genuineness and authenticity that is rare in contemporary circus.
