Edinburgh Fringe Review: Do Zombies Dream of Undead Sheep? at Zoo Playground

Transforming homophobia into a celebration of queer joy, A Drag Is Born makes its UK premiere at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Running from 1–24 August (excluding 12 August) at ZOO Playground, this award-winning non-verbal clown show is a riotous blend of drag, lip-sync, and physical theatre.

Created and performed by Tenerife-born, New York-based artist Edu Díaz, the show follows an ordinary man who, through a twist of fate, becomes the Queen of the Carnival. With age, body hair, and limited talents, he’s an unlikely icon—but his transformation is a defiant, joyful embrace of identity. Set to a liberating soundtrack featuring Rita Hayworth, Nancy Sinatra, and Celine Dion, A Drag Is Born is a wordless celebration of self-discovery and queer resilience.

Directed by Rachel Resnik, the show has already won six awards across festivals in New York, Orlando, and Los Angeles. With its whimsical charm and powerful message, it’s a must-see for anyone seeking laughter, liberation, and a little glitter.
