Celebrating its ten-year anniversary, Cartoonopolis makes its long-awaited Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut this summer. Written and performed by Lewis Ian Bray, this vibrant solo show runs from 30 July to 24 August (excluding 6, 11, and 18 August) at Pleasance Dome, Jack Dome.
Inspired by Bray’s younger brother Jack, who is autistic, Cartoonopolis is a heartfelt tribute to neurodivergence, family, and imagination. Audiences are invited into the fantastical world of Jack’s mind—a place filled with cartoon heroes, Marvel villains, and Toy Story adventures—as he approaches adulthood. Bray plays 27 characters, including Jack and his parents, in a whirlwind of humour, emotion, and theatrical energy.
Directed by Chris Tomlinson and Matt Rutter, the show is a joyful yet honest exploration of growing up neurodivergent and the challenges families face. With captioned and relaxed performances available, Cartoonopolis is an inclusive, powerful celebration of creativity and connection.
