Edinburgh Fringe Preview: Whisper Walk at Assembly George Square Studios

Offering a moment of calm amid the chaos of the Fringe, Channel is a meditative, immersive sound experience created by Jack McGuire and presented by Dutch Kills Theater Company and Wet Hands. Running at Assembly Roxy (Snug) from 30 July to 24 August (not 12), this world premiere invites audiences into a peaceful, communal space for deep listening and reflection.

Inspired by the sonic meditations of composer Pauline Oliveros, Channel uses live electronic music and ambient soundscapes to explore the overwhelming noise of modern life—particularly the digital chatter of social media. McGuire, performing under the name Wet Hands, layers sound in real time, encouraging audience members to contribute and become part of the evolving audio environment.

Designed by Itohan Edoloyi, the space is both physical and auditory, offering a sanctuary for rest, reconnection, and mindfulness. The show builds on McGuire’s previous Fringe collaborations with Dutch Kills, including Solitary and Temping, and continues the company’s tradition of innovative, interdisciplinary work.
