Coven Announces Further Extension at Kiln Theatre

A fusion of human creativity and artificial intelligence, RoboTales is a tech theatre improv experience like no other. Running at Gilded Balloon (Patter House) from 30 July to 17 August at 19:40, this interactive comedy show invites audiences to co-create a new story each night with the help of A.L.Ex — a humanoid robot powered by advanced AI.

Inspired by Choose Your Own Adventure books, RoboTales sees human performers guided by A.L.Ex, who analyses the action in real time and throws in unpredictable twists. Audience members vote on plot developments, while the robot generates surprise lines via augmented reality glasses and even deepfakes of consenting participants, blurring the line between scripted performance and spontaneous chaos.

Directed by Piotr Mirowski and created by Improbotics, the show explores the ethical use of AI in performance, offering a playful yet thought-provoking look at the future of theatre. Since 2016, Improbotics has been pioneering the fusion of AI and live performance, with previous Fringe hits including Artificial Intelligence Improvisation.

With a cast of international performers and a robot co-director, RoboTales is a bold, hilarious, and mind-bending theatrical experiment.
