In their own words, the Lampoons are four professional idiots hell bent on creating joyously absurd and delightfully cheeky comedy theatre. Producers of the most faithful unfaithful adaptations, they scavenge classic cinema, reproducing forgotten gems with their uniquely bizarre and eccentric style. And this year they’re bringing The Lampoons: House on Haunted Hill to Edinburgh Fringe.

What can you tell us about it?

This could well be the most ridiculously bizarre show on the Fringe. A thumpingly hilarious non-stop Comedy-Horror the likes of which have never been seen before. Plus, you get water pistols, ping pong balls and a Ghost Cat!

What’s the one thing about The Lampoons: House on Haunted Hill that makes it different from all the rest?

Everyone is promising the unexpected but no one is ready for our special guest stars, the Balaclava Ballet Band, or what we can do with a jar of Pickles…

How does it feel to be at The Pleasance 10Dome?

We are over the moon to be partnering with the Pleasance Dome this year. It’s a fantastic venue, with an amazing team and it is bang smack right in the middle of all things Fringe! And the support we’ve had from their team is second to none.

What’s the best/worst thing about writing a show for Edinburgh Fringe?

When we first devised and performed House on Haunted Hill it ran at 1hr 40mins. So having to kill 40 minutes of material we loved was pretty tough going. But one of the best things about the Fringe is the audience it attracts. So you know you can produce something for a room of very excitable people who are likely to be open to whatever bizarre stuff we throw at them!

What’s the most challenging thing about performing in The Lampoons: House on Haunted Hill?

We love performing this show. It’s essentially our happy place. But when that curtain comes down the sheer size of the post show clean up every night probably comes close to a Glastonbury festival clean up!

Why should people come see The Lampoons?

If you like having no idea what will happen next, you’ll love this. A Lampoons show is an experience like no other. We build shows that are centred around the audience, if you laugh we will probably just do it some more!

The Lampoons: House On Haunted Hill is at Pleasance Dome – 10 Dome from August 1st– 26th (not 13th).
