Iain Stirling Review

Five Star Review from Theatre Weekly

If you haven’t heard of Iain Stirling, you’ll almost definitely have heard his voice, because as well as being a BAFTA award winning children’s TV presenter, he happens to be the voice of the phenomenally successful Love Island. All that aside he’s also an incredibly talented stand-up comedian, and this show, U OK Hun? x continues his annual Edinburgh pilgrimage.

No one can blame Iain for making hay while the sun shines, and to give him credit, he doesn’t go over the top on the Love Island stuff, although a large group of girls in the audience seemed to be there expecting a missing episode of the show.

This is his sixth visit to Edinburgh Fringe, as well as gaining a name for himself internationally, most recently at The Melbourne Fringe. You can see a very clear breadth of experience in his comedy, with each joke flowing easily in to the next.

Iain says he doesn’t do observational comedy, I think you could call parts more observational than others, but on the whole, its all pretty relatable.  Iain regales us with tales of his travels around the world and some of the scrapes he has found himself in.

Iain Stirling’s U OK Hun? x is a whirlwind hour of comedy, with each tale becoming more outlandish as the show progresses, he has a great rapport with the audience and has cemented himself as a firm Fringe favourite.
