Northern Broadsides and York Theatre have released production images for the premiere of They Don’t Pay? We Won’t Pay!, Deborah McAndrew’s new adaptation transposed to Brexit Britain of Dario Fo’s political satire of civil disobedience Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay!

They Don’t Pay? We Won’t Pay! tells the story of Anthea who gets mixed up in a riot at her local supermarket and seizes the opportunity to stock her empty cupboards and those of her friend. But what will the two friends tell their law-abiding husbands?

Directed by Northern Broadsides Artistic director Conrad Nelson, They Don’t Pay? We Won’t Pay! is at York Theatre Royal till 13 October and will then tour to Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford (16-20 Oct); Hull Truck Theatre (23-24 Oct); Liverpool Playhouse (30 Oct-3 Nov); New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyme (6-10 Nov) ; Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield (14-17 Nov);  Stephen Joseph Theatre (20-24 Nov) and the Viaduct Theatre, Halifax (27 Nov-2 Dec).
