One of the most talked about shows at The Place in recent years, DeadClub – a co-production with Fuel – blew audiences and critics away when it premiered in 2017. While theatres remain closed due to the Coronavirus crisis, The Place, London’s boldest dance theatre, has launched The Place Online, a digital programme of full length dance performances from the archive, that audiences can enjoy from their home.
On 18 June, Fuel and The Place will offer the rare chance to experience Frauke Requardt and David Rosenberg’s “mindblowingly weird” (Time Out) DeadClub. Part cabaret, part funeral ceremony, part end-of-the-world party, DeadClub captivates audiences in a tangle of riddles around memory and perception in a subversive, surreal spectacle of death and the afterlife.
DeadClub will be broadcast simultaneously on The Place & Fuel’s websites on 18 June at 7pm and will be available until the following Monday 22 June 10pm. On 18 June there will be a Theatre Club event after the show hosted by writer Maddy Costa. Audiences can register through Eventbrite and join via Zoom.
The screening will be framed by a short introduction from Requardt & Rosenberg, and audiences will have the opportunity to donate to support Fuel during this difficult time.
