No Table Productions has announced full casting for One Way Out, the award-winning debut play by Montel Douglas, which returns to the stage at Brixton House this summer.
Running from 18 June to 5 July 2025, One Way Out is a whip-smart coming-of-age story that explores identity, belonging, and survival through the lens of young British Caribbeans navigating the legacy of the Windrush scandal.
David Alade, Joe Deighton, Adam Seridji, and Joshua-Alexander Williams will star as Devonte, Paul, Tunde, and Salim—four best friends on the cusp of adulthood, whose lives are upended by an earth-shattering event.
Set in a rapidly changing South London, the play captures the erosion of community spaces and the impact of gentrification, while celebrating the strength of cross-cultural friendships.
One Way Out has been updated since its 2023 premiere to reflect current concerns around government rhetoric and policies that disproportionately affect migrant communities.
Montel Douglas, who writes and directs, said:
“Is your fate already decided or is there one way out?”
Douglas is a British Jamaican theatre-maker from South London, with credits including Their Name is Joy (Theatre Peckham/NT Connections) and Verified (Multistory/Southbank Centre). He also leads the GLOW project at Brixton House, supporting emerging talent.
The creative team includes Jahmiko Marshall (lighting design), Francesca Amewudah-Rivers (sound design and original score), Gisela Mulindwa (projection design), Yemurai Zvraya (movement direction), David Gilbert (dramaturgy), and Sikisa Bostwick Barnes (legal consultant).
One Way Out is produced by No Table Productions, a company dedicated to telling stories rooted in lived experience, with a focus on uplifting South London voices.
The production originally debuted at Theatre Peckham’s Young Gifted and Black Festival before winning the 2023 Untapped Award and premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
