Greenwich Theatre has announced a major transformation for 2026 with the launch of Greenwich Theatre Productions, a new producing arm that will extend the venue’s work across partner theatres in London.
The move strengthens the theatre’s long standing commitment to developing contemporary work and nurturing emerging and established writers, while allowing its productions to tour beyond a single run in Greenwich.
The season opens with the UK premiere of Neil LaBute’s America the Beautiful, running at King’s Head Theatre from 9 to 21 March before transferring to Greenwich Theatre from 30 March to 4 April. The ambitious initiative presents nine short plays across two venues, with further casting to be announced.
Executive Producer and CEO of King’s Head Theatre Sofi Berenger said:
“Partnerships like this with Greenwich Theatre Productions are central to how we programme at King’s Head, creating opportunities for our audiences to encounter established voices like Neil LaBute in new and unexpected ways. By working across two venues, we’re not just sharing a production, but bringing our communities together through a genuinely collaborative theatrical experience.”
Jim Cartwright’s Two will transfer to the Park Theatre from 1 to 25 April, featuring the return of Peter Caulfield and Kellie Shirley playing all fourteen characters.
Park Theatre’s CEO and Artistic Director Jez Bond said:
“We’re thrilled to be welcoming Greenwich Theatre Productions’ acclaimed revival of Two by Jim Cartwright to Park90. Transfers like this allow us to work collaboratively across London, pooling resources, sharing audiences and creating space for theatre to be experienced as a genuinely communal act.”
Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s The Wasp will run at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 6 to 30 May, before transferring to Greenwich Theatre from 4 to 12 September.
Southwark Playhouse CEO and Artistic Director Chris Smyrnios said:
“We’re very much looking forward to hosting this revival of Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s gripping play The Wasp at Southwark Playhouse Borough, and to be working with Greenwich Theatre Productions, as part of their exciting Spring season.”
Greenwich Theatre will also present an extensive line up of in house work. The season begins with a revival of Lizzie Nunnery’s The Swallowing Dark from 1 to 23 May. This is followed by a new musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet from 3 July to 2 August.
Family audiences can enjoy The Little Mermaid, adapted by Anthony Spargo, running from 7 to 23 August. Spargo also writes the 2026 Greenwich Theatre pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, running from 27 November 2026 to 10 January 2027.
Artistic Director James Haddrell said:
“The 2026 season reflects ongoing growth in in house production and the theatre’s commitment to developing work by both established artists and early career creatives. The theatre will also continue its fundraising engagements and partnerships, with events scheduled throughout the season.”
Across the year, the theatre will continue to host comedy, new writing, music and one night events, along with its Emerging Artists Programme offering development opportunities for early career creatives.
