Lillias White and Billy Stritch

Lillias White and Billy Stritch

For the first time, Broadway star and Tony Award winner, Lillias White will appear on the Crazy Coqs stage with not one, but two of her most popular shows, Lillias White sings Broadway and Hoagy Carmichael & Friends.

She will be accompanied by the internationally celebrated artist Billy Stritch on piano, performing these very different shows, which will alternate from night-to-night.

This limited engagement, featuring these two prominent American artists and some of the greatest music written for Broadway and the Golden Age of popular music, promises to be an infectious toe tapper and a welcomed stroll down a musical memory lane.

Lillias White sings Broadway: 14, 16, 19, 21 & 23 April

Ms. White is renowned for the many Broadway shows she has starred in, including Cats, Dreamgirls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Fela, Once on This Island, The Life, Chicago, and Barnum. Lillias will sing many of the hit songs that she brought to the stage from those musicals while sharing amusing anecdotes about the shows and the highly creative people involved behind the scenes.

Hoagy Carmichael & Friends: 15, 18, 20 and 22 April

Along with many popular songs written by Hoagy Carmichael who penned Stardust, Georgia on My Mind, The Nearness of You and Heart and Soul, the evening will also feature a combination of standards from the American Song Book with selections by Cy Coleman, Johnny Mercer, and Comden and Green. Lillias and Billy have performed these popular standards across the United States to enthusiastic
audiences, and they are excited to share this music with London.

An Evening with Billy Stritch:  14, 18

Billy Stritch is an award-winning pianist and singer and known to audiences worldwide for his many solo concert performances and as accompanist and musical director for Liza Minnelli, Tony Bennett, and Marilyn Maye to name but a few.

During the pandemic, Billy created his own weekly Facebook livestream music show called “Billy’s Place”. For 63 weeks, he spotlighted a different composer or performer from the Great American Songbook and his show at Crazy Coqs will feature his favorite songs from these online shows.

Expect to hear music by Cy Coleman, Rodgers and Hart, Barry Manilow, Hoagy Carmichael as well as selections from the Brazilian bossa nova canon. He’ll also be sharing intimate stories from his varied and wide-ranging career.
