Singer and comedian, Liza Pulman has announced the release of a video and free download for the 1920’s classic Bye Bye Blackbird. The song is taken from her recently released EP featuring four tracks from her forthcoming album. which is planned to be released in spring 2021.
The album release will coincide with Liza’ rescheduled dates at London’s iconic Riverside Studios, running for seven nights from Monday 19 to Sunday 25 April 2021 with tickets on sale soon.
Bye Bye Blackbird written by American composer Ray Henderson and lyricist Mort Dixon, was originally released in 1926 by Sam Lanin’s Dance Orchestra. It has been released and performed many times over the years by artists such as Julie London, Miles Davis and Joe Cocker.
The Heart Of It was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and produced by the legendary Chris Porter (David Bowie, Elton John, Take That), and accompanied by some of the finest musicians including Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel), Danny Cummings (Mark Knopfler) and Chris Cameron (George Michael).
The video has been created using black and white photographs by Bob Berry, taken during the recording process at Real World Studio’s.
Liza Pulman commented: “It’s always fascinating how everyone has their own favourite and how four songs can provoke such different reactions, but the response to Bye Bye Blackbird, the track I recorded with the wonderful Tony Levin and the obscenely talented Joe Stilgoe, has been overwhelming, perhaps because this is a song that feels so right for these troubled times; a lyric that says goodbye to the dark times and heads firmly towards the light.
We were asked many times to create a video for this song and so we have pieced together some photos from the amazing time we spent recording at Real World Studios. No blackbirds, just a few pics of me looking moody in black and white!”
Liza’s EP features the tracks Unchained Melody, My Favorite Year, I’ve Got A Feeling I’m Falling and of course Bye Bye Blackbird. The track can be downloaded free and check out the rest of the songs here: http://www.lizapulman.com/music/#free-download
