London Theatre Company has announced two exciting new productions opening at the Bridge Theatre in 2025. The highly anticipated Into The Woods and the immersive A Midsummer Night’s Dream will both grace the stage, promising unforgettable theatrical experiences.
Into The Woods
A brand-new staging of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s dazzling musical Into The Woods will begin previews on 2 December 2025. Directed by Jordan Fein and designed by Tom Scutt, this production will run for a strictly limited 20-week engagement, concluding on 18 April 2026.
Into The Woods weaves together four Grimms’ fairy tales in a story about a baker and his wife on a quest to reverse a curse of childlessness cast upon them by a wicked witch. The musical, which debuted on Broadway in 1986, won Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Book. This will be its first London production since 2016.
Nicholas Hytner, co-founder of The Bridge, expressed his excitement: “Into The Woods is one of the great achievements of the American stage. Jordan Fein’s production of Fiddler on the Roof at the Open Air Theatre last year was a triumph, beautifully staged and overwhelmingly moving, and Tom Scutt has established himself across the world as a designer of rare talent and imagination.”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The immersive A Midsummer Night’s Dream, one of The Bridge’s biggest hits, will return this summer with performances from 31 May to 23 August 2025. The opening night is set for 5 June.
The cast includes JJ Feild as Oberon/Theseus, Susannah Fielding as Titania/Hippolyta, Emmanuel Akwafo as Bottom, and David Moorst, who returns to the role of Puck/Philostrate. Further casting will be announced in due course.
Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the production features award-winning design by Bunny Christie, costumes by Christina Cunningham, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound design by Paul Arditti, music by Grant Olding, and movement by Arlene Phillips. James Cousins serves as associate director and associate movement director.
The immersive format of A Midsummer Night’s Dream allows 400 people to stand close to the action, with 670 seats wrapped around the stage. This unique experience enabled over 100,000 people to see the production during its initial run in 2019.
