Executive Producers Michael McFadden and Katy Lipson have announced the launch of TRW Production, a new development, investment, and producing entity.
With over four decades of combined theatrical production experience, McFadden and Lipson will head the company’s New York and London offices. Their unique vision and ambition have led to international success through Phoenix Entertainment and Aria Entertainment. Together with Steve Spiegel, owner and CEO of Theatrical Rights Worldwide, TRW Production aims to develop a diverse slate of theatrical properties for international, regional, and educational markets.
Among the projects in development are stage adaptations of the 2007 rom-com Music & Lyrics, originally starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, and the 2012 film Joyful Noise, featuring Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah. Music & Lyrics will be adapted by Marc Lawrence, while Joyful Noise will feature a gospel-inspired score by Todd Graff, including hits by Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Usher, along with original songs by Dolly Parton.
TRW Production will also explore the music catalogues of iconic artists, starting with Chuck Berry, whose story will be brought to the stage by playwright Will Power.
Driven by a commitment to emerging writers, TRW Production has launched The Collective, a mentorship program for developing new musicals. Each month, selected composers and lyricists present material and receive feedback, support, and resources from TRW.
