Nottingham based touring company New Perspectives are offering to support a group of up to six new creative practitioners from the East Midlands region. Through this new opportunity early-career artists will have a chance to gain a close insight into the workings of the company, feed in their own ideas, benefit from a range of company contacts and receive support with their own work. They will act as ambassadors for New Perspectives, helping to spread the word about productions and programmes, and helping to shape the future.
Over one year the New Associates will:
– observe a series of board and management meetings to gain a greater understanding of managing a company and charity governance
join a creative and strategic away day with Artistic Director and key staff team, with the opportunity to join early conversations and exchange fresh ideas
act as a sounding board for new ideas and project strands
– attend rehearsals, readings, masterclasses, performances and other events throughout the year
– receive a tailored support package for an agreed project, such as rehearsal space and mentoring, including dramaturgical support and touring expertise
The advisory group is intended for early career practitioners who are interested in growing their company/work as well as taking a leadership role or joining a voluntary board. New Perspectives encourages applications from people under 40 years and from all backgrounds.
Artistic Director Jack McNamara says, \’I am really excited to invite a group of early-career artists to join the New Perspectives family and help form the shape of our work going forward. The East Midlands is awash with theatre talent and we want to learn from them as well as help them find ways of developing their own practise. We hope this will also be a chance for artists to think about their own leadership as they play a crucial part in the future of ours\’
The Chair of New Perspectives’ Trustees Amanda Farr added, ‘As a company encouraging, supporting and obtaining feedback from theatre makers, writers and actors in the region is one of our core values. This opportunity will both impact on New Perspectives as a company and contribute to the development of future artistic leaders\’
