The National Theatre and Wales Millennium Centre have unveiled first-look rehearsal images for the return of Nye, Tim Price’s epic Welsh fantasia about the life and legacy of Aneurin ‘Nye’ Bevan.
Directed by Rufus Norris, Nye stars Michael Sheen reprising his role as the pioneering politician who led the creation of the NHS.
The production returns to the National Theatre’s Olivier stage from 3 July to 16 August 2025, before transferring to the Wales Millennium Centre’s Donald Gordon Theatre from 22 to 30 August 2025.
Alongside the production, the National Theatre will host 100 VOICES NHS, an immersive sound installation by Sound Voice, composer Hannah Conway and writer Hazel Gould.
Located in the South Bank building, the installation invites visitors to sit inside a wooden roundhouse and listen to real NHS experiences set to four specially commissioned musical pieces.
Created after five months of research and conversations with staff, patients and visitors from 12 hospitals, 100 VOICES NHS captures the challenges, joys and inspirations of 100 individuals.
The installation is free and open to the public until 17 August, with no booking required.
The full cast of Nye includes Gabriel Akamo, Remy Beasley, Matthew Bulgo, Jacob Coleman, Ross Foley, Jon Furlong, Daniel Hawksford, Jason Hughes, Stephanie Jacob, Kezrena James, Tony Jayawardena, Michael Keane, Nicholas Khan, Rebecca Killick, Mark Matthews, Joshua McCord, Hannah McPake, Rhodri Meilir, Ashley Mejri, Lee Mengo, Mali O’Donnell, Sara Otung, Sharon Small and Gareth Tempest.
