When a twelve-year-old boy is coerced by the police into describing a crime he never saw, the consequences of his false testimony reverberate for half a century. Inspired by true events, It Is So Ordered charts the tragic story of two men linked by a lie and explores the power of forgiveness in an unforgiving world.
Set during the outbreak of wrongful and racially motivated imprisonments in 1960’s America, It Is So Ordered explores the racial injustice caused during this period and the repercussions are still being felt to this day.
Changing Face is a multi-lingual and multi-national theatre company producing international drama and documentary theatre. Credits include The Pulverised (Arcola Theatre & York Theatre Royal), Where Will We Live? (Southwark Playhouse) and Clay (Pleasance). Director Lucy has recently directed Women’s Stories of Ford Dagenham (Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch and has assisted for the Arcola Theatre, Drama Centre London and the Bristol Old Vic. She is currently working with Emmy-award winning writer, Ron Hutchinson, on an adaptation of his first every stage play.
Movement Director Angela Gasparetto has recently worked on Matthew Xia’s Wish List at the Royal Court and Designer Lucy Wellor has designed for the Royal Court and Complicite. Cast includes Simon Mokhele (Play 7 at the Old Red Lion Theatre, Dirty, Gifted and Welsh at the National Theatre Wales and Spring Awakening dir. Ellen McDougall) and Faaiz Mbelizi (Ostrich Boys at the Belgrade Theatre).
