Preview It Made Me Consider Me New Diorama

Brand new immersive theatre piece It Made Me Consider Me will be coming to New Diorama Theatre for a limited three week run beginning on 31st January.

This ambitious new production sees a group of enigmatic guides take participants on a seemingly bog-standard tour of a seemingly normal building, only for the experience to descend into a series of vivid dreamscapes, consciousness-altering encounters and a voyage into the labyrinthine corridors of human identity and memory, particularly the dark recesses where everything is stored, but nothing is remembered.

Fantastical and absurdist, this site-specific piece will be woven into the architecture of New Diorama’s cavernous and highly distinctive ND2 rehearsal space – a former trading floor that Gruff Theatre will adapt to allude to an ethereal manifestation of human consciousness which drives those within it to explore the power of our recollections and their influence over the way we perceive ourselves.

Devised using actor-centric methods and non-traditional rehearsal structures, It Made Me Consider Me experiments with the boundaries of traditional theatre through its boundary pushing use of performance techniques, space, design, and the role of the audience in theatre.

It Made Me Consider Me has been created by Gruff Theatre – a collective of performers and theatre-makers interested in the live event and authentic interaction with the audience. In an era of divisive politics and filter bubbles, but one in which science reveals more secrets to us than ever, it’s important to remind ourselves of the building blocks that make us human.
