Join one of the authors of acclaimed cookbook Syria: Recipes From Home for an evening of stories, cooking, music and tasting of Syrian cuisine. The book and evening will celebrate everything food and memory can mean to an individual, to a family and to a nation.
Syria has always been the marketplace for the most delicious ingredients from East and West, a meeting-point for travellers and traders, where spices and sweetness collide. Nothing unites and inspires Syrians as much as food.
Complicité Creative Learning Producer Dina Mousawi will demonstrate recipes from their book and tell stories of the Syrian women they met along the way.
Syria: Recipes From Home was included in several Best Cook Books of 2017 lists, including The Guardian, The Times, London Evening Standard, Martha Stewart’s and many more. It received rave reviews on BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme and Woman’s Hour.
This event is part of I’ll Say It Again! a season of work by women artists. This is a month-long festival of events including theatre, music, poetry and dance, celebrating the centenary of women’s suffrage in the UK.
Syria: Recipes From Home is at The Tara Theatre 22nd May at 7.30pm.
