Children’s favourites Simon Mole and Gecko will bring their brand-new family show, The Great Big Bug Show, to venues across the UK in February and March 2026.
Packed with poems, raps and songs, The Great Big Bug Show explores the secret world beneath our feet with fun, interactive performances for children and families. Expect minibeasts, massive beats, and even a rock song about ladybirds!
Following its premiere at the Natural History Museum, which featured on ITV News, the show promises delightfully disgusting and wonderfully weird bug facts alongside an inspirational call to appreciate the smaller creatures in our world.
Simon Mole said:
“As well as learning about bugs, this show is all about having fun with poems and songs! We want kids to discover the power of their own imagination and creativity – the aim is that they walk out feeling like they could be a songwriter, or a scientist, or both!”
Gecko added:
“I’ve loved the challenge of writing music about the alien world of bugs and learning about how essential they are to life on earth. Plus writing a rock song about ladybirds was one of my favourite afternoons ever!”
The tour will visit Norwich Theatre (17 February), artsdepot in North London (19 February), Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead (21 February), Half Moon Theatre in East London (28 February) and Luton’s Hat Factory Arts Centre (1 March).
Created by Simon Mole, Gecko and Peader Kirk, The Great Big Bug Show is co-produced by Rua Arts and funded by Arts Council England. The show is suitable for children aged 4–11 and their families, with a running time of approximately 50 minutes.
