Tara Theatre announces the inaugural season of its new Artistic Director, Natasha Kathi-Chandra. This season will explore the world through the spectrum of diverse South Asian experiences, weaving together stories full of joy, contradictions, and complexities.

I Dream of Theresa May by Vivek Nityananda will run from 17th to 29th November 2025. Directed by Natasha Kathi-Chandra, this play explores a gay Indian man’s unlikely mentorship with former UK Prime Minister Theresa May as he desperately seeks the right to remain in the UK.

Permission by Hunia Chawla will be performed from 30th May to 7th June 2025. Directed by Neetu Singh, this play delves into the political and sexual autonomy of Muslim women through the friendship of two Pakistani friends, Hanna and Minza.

A Practical Guide on How to Save the World When No One F**ing Else Is* will run from 15th to 19th April 2025. Presented by Tara Theatre Young Company, this biting satire highlights climate colonialism and Western apathy.

Sweetmeats by Karim Khan, presented in co-production with the Bush Theatre, features forbidden love between two South Asian elders. Full details about the run in 2026 are still to be announced.

Natasha Kathi-Chandra commented, “With my inaugural season at Tara Theatre I want to highlight that there isn’t just one way to ‘be’ South Asian. So often our identities are homogenised, but with these shows I want audiences to see the sometimes contradictory, often joyful and nearly always complex ways in which our stories are forged.”
