Plymouth Point from Swamp Motel

Swamp Motel have today launched Plymouth Point, an interactive detective story that centres around the mysterious disappearance of local resident Ivy. Inspired by true crime dramas and the limitations of lockdown, award-winning creative studio Swamp Motel have used all corners of the internet to build an authentic and thrilling live experience.

Bringing groups of socially distanced friends together, audiences are challenged to collectively become the detective in this story. First picking up the threads of Ivy’s last known whereabouts, audiences will then use the internet to explore, hack and probe through video calls, social media accounts and obscure websites to solve the mystery of what happened to her.

Launching today for a limited three week run, tickets will be £20 for a group of up to six players, with all profits going to charity.

Ollie Jones and Clem Garritty, Co-Founders and Creative Directors of Swamp Motel, said: “As a small independent company who create live events, lockdown definitely put the brakes on things. Much like everyone around the world, we found ourselves stuck – quizzes, true crime drama and world wide web surfing filling our evenings. Being brought to a standstill forced us to play around with format and see whether we could translate our techniques to an online medium. Then came the idea for Plymouth Point; combining our love for creating a thrilling experience with what we do best; telling an authentic story and immersing an audience. We’ve built an internet trail that needs to be cracked. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a detective, a stealthy internet snooper or in need of an escape into a fast-paced, intriguing world, Plymouth Point is the place for you.”

Plymouth Point was created by Swamp Motel, award-winning theatre and experience makers, who create immersive, interactive worlds for audiences and brands in the UK and internationally. Launched in 2017, Swamp Motel was formed by Jones and Garritty, both Creative Associates of Punchdrunk and who co-founded the critically acclaimed comedy theatre company Kill the Beast.

Swamp Motel were the winners of Campaign’s Best Brand Experience (B2B) of the Year in 2018 and were Finalists at The Drum Experience Awards in 2018 and 2019. Previous clients include BBC, Disney, Yahoo!, Dishoom, Cadbury, X-Box, Resident Evil 2 and Verizon Media.

The Plymouth Point experience unfolds across the world wide web, it requires a working computer and internet connection and relies on solving problems, unearthing hidden clues; the answers are there to be found but the devil is in the detail. The experience does not require the audience to leave the house, change any passwords or call the missing person hotline.

Plymouth Point is currently booking from 20th May – 7th June. For more information and to buy tickets, visit plymouthpoint.co.uk
