Jonny Donahoe’s hit comedy play-with-songs Thirty Christmases is to receive its London premiere from 4-23 December at New Diorama Theatre.
Jonny and Rachel haven’t had a good Christmas in years. Not since Dad disappeared… But this time they’re going to get it right. First, they’ve got a few things to get straight, and a story to tell you…
Thirty Christmases is a hilarious and heart-warming story, featuring original music by Jonny & The Baptists, about traditions, politics, family rivalries and making Christmas happen, despite everything. Originally created for Oxford’s Old Fire Station – a partnership between professional arts centre and homeless charity Crisis Skylight – fittingly, the show touches on themes of homelessness and fostering.
Drama Desk Award nominee Donahoe is best known for international hit one-man show Every Brilliant Thing (UK & international tours, 2013-17 & now an HBO/Sky Arts special) and as one half of celebrated musical comedy act Jonny & the Baptists alongside Paddy Gervers.
The show also stars Chortle Award nominee Rachel Parris (Austentatious, The IT Crowd, The Mash Report) alongside Donahoe and his musical comedy partner Paddy Gervers (Jonny & the Baptists). It is directed by Alice Hamilton (Visitors, Arcola/Bush Theatre; German Skerries, Orange Tree/UK Tour).
Thirty Christmases was named in The Stage ‘Top 10 UK Christmas Shows’ 2016, having played to rave reviews and sell-out houses at Oxford’s Old Fire Station.
