Newly formed Yellow Kangaroo Productions, headed by Bear In The Air Productions co-founder Samuel Ranger, announce their upcoming production of Jack and the Beanstalk, written by Alex Howarth, at the Applecart Arts new venue, the Passmore Edwards Building.
Having previously produced 5 pantomimes at years at the Kenton Theatre in Henley, Sam and Yellow Kangaroo are among the first to bring a production to the new theatre.
‘Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum, there’s some GIANT fun coming to East Ham! This Christmas, Yellow Kangaroo Productions and Applecart Arts presents Jack and the Beanstalk, the story of Jack, Jill and their giantadventure. Join them as they trade their beloved cow for some magic beans, and get far more than they bargained for.’
Yellow Kangaroo is a new production company born of Director Sam Ranger’s desire to keep pushing theatre forward through any means necessary. Jack and the Beanstalk will be the companies first production, to which Sam is bringing a wealth of experience from his years with Bear in the Air Productions. Joining him on the panto journey is Playwright and Director Alex Howarth. Together they brought 5 different pantomimes to the Kenton Theatre over 9 years, before taking on this new challenge.
Writer and Director Alex Howarth says, ‘I’m ecstatic to be bringing pantomime to Newham for the first time, and to create a fun, hilarious and joyful show that the community can be proud of.’
Applecart Arts is an ever-growing company driven by the belief that stories are potent and have the power to challenge, change and strengthen communities. Having launched in 2008, and taken over multiple venues over the years, the Passmore Edwards Building in which their new theatre – and café, studio and rehearsal space – is located is their newest development. As with all others, this venue will be another arm of their long-standing commitment to community engagement and a pursuit of artistic excellence.
Artistic Director of Applecart, Peter Moreton, says, ‘We’re delighted to be presenting Newham’s own panto this year. We planted the magic beans for the show in the spring and it’s promising to grow into a GIANT dose of seasonal fun for all the family’.
Jack and the Beanstalk is at the Passmore Edwards Building 5th December – 2nd January.
