The Young Vic has announced initial casting for the UK premiere of The Pelicot Trial, the acclaimed documentary theatre work by Milo Rau and Servane Dècle, which comes to The Chamber at London County Hall on 30 November 2026.

The four-hour production will be staged as a one-off event and will also be streamed live worldwide, allowing audiences across the globe to watch the performance free of charge via the Young Vic YouTube channel between 6pm and 10pm.

Among the first performers confirmed are Adjoa Andoh, Nicole Ansari-Cox, Lorraine Ashbourne, Leo Bill, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Alfred Enoch, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Rosie Jones, Kadiff Kirwan, Rosie O’Donnell, Tamzin Outhwaite, Jordan Stephens, Juliet Stevenson, Samuel West and Olivia Williams. Further casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

Drawing on testimonies, written accounts, police files, social commentary and psychiatric reports connected to the prosecution of 51 men in the Gisèle Pelicot case, the production examines the prevalence of sexual violence and the ways in which it is treated by society and the legal system.

The work was developed in collaboration with journalists, anthropologists and feminist organisations in France. Since its world premiere at the Vienna Festival in June 2025, it has toured internationally, with each production featuring a different company of performers.

Central to the piece is Gisèle Pelicot’s decision to waive anonymity and make her trial public, a move that sparked international discussion and made her a symbol of resilience and resistance to sexual violence.

“Shame has to change sides.”

Presented across four hours, The Pelicot Trial seeks to explore the wider social questions raised by the case and its global impact.

The Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) | Free Republic of Vienna production is presented by the Young Vic, Eleanor Lloyd Productions and Rebecca Stafford Productions, with support from the Olwyn Foundation for Women and Girls.

Tickets for the London performance go on general sale from 7 October 2026.
