New rehearsal images have been released for Affluenza as Riverside Studios announces an extension to the production’s run following strong early box office demand.
The world premiere play, which opens the Mainstage Season 26/27, will now run until 28 November 2026, with additional performances added before previews have even begun. The production starts previews on 26 September and marks the stage debut of Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp.
Written and directed by Andy Sandberg, Affluenza features an ensemble cast including Janette Manrara, Rupert Young, Juliet Cowan, Wallis Currie-Wood and Donald Sage Mackay.
Inspired by true events surrounding a controversial legal defence, Affluenza examines the impact of wealth, privilege and personal responsibility. Set in the affluent world of the Hamptons, the play explores questions of moral accountability, family legacy and the American justice system.
When a teenager’s drunken car ride ends in tragedy, the drama asks whether it is possible to be too privileged to understand the consequences of one’s actions, while exploring the wider ripple effects of power and wealth.

Affluenza is the first of five productions in the new Mainstage Season 26/27 at Riverside Studios, a programme curated by Sandberg that will feature a series of limited-run productions, including world premieres and new plays from acclaimed writers.
The creative team includes set designer Charlie Corcoran, costume designer and associate set designer Hannah Schmidt, lighting designer Jack Weir, sound designer Emily Drohan, composer Will Van Dyke, casting director Nicholas Hockaday, associate director Cecilie Fray and assistant director Florence Carr-Jones.
The production will play Monday to Saturday evenings, with Thursday and Saturday matinees, and a captioned performance scheduled for 14 November. Press night is set for 5 October.
