London’s new musical comedy Amour will end its run early on Saturday, 8 June, 2019 having played 45 performances.

The production was scheduled to run at Charing Cross Theatre to 20 July.

Producer Danielle Tarento said, “I want to thank and applaud the brilliant company and creative team who created a beautiful production that received critical acclaim, nightly standing ovations and received 8 Off West End Award nominations. I am so incredibly proud of this gorgeous show and I hope London will give it the rousing send-off it deserves in its final two weeks.”

This belated UK professional première production (it opened on Broadway in 2002) was hailed by the critics including Mark Shenton, who awarded it 5 stars and declared: “I absolutely adored it”;  Whatsonstage (4 stars) said: “Hannah Chissick’s staging is a beguiling tribute to its legendary composer Michel Legrand, it’s got no shortage of cinematic dazzle, it never misses a beat, and it’s good for the soul”, while Time Out (4 stars)  called it “genuinely enchanting” and “utterly gorgeous”.

Amour’s 8 Off West End Award nominations are for Best New Musical, Director (Hannah Chissick) Musical Director (Jordan Li-Smith), Costume Design (Adrian Gee), Lighting Design (Rob Halliday), Sound Design (Andrew Johnson) Male Performance in a Musicall (Gary Tushaw) and Female Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Claire Machin).
