This summer, Gorilla Circus: RPM will take over the Market Place in Newbury with two thrilling performances on Saturday 12th July at 6:30pm and 9:30pm.
Presented as part of Corn Exchange Newbury’s vibrant summer season, this free outdoor spectacle is set on a giant moving treadmill and fuses acrobatics, roller skating, and street dance to explore the UK’s colonial past.
Gorilla Circus is renowned for its large-scale, interactive performances that captivate audiences of all ages. Founded in 2009 by a former flying trapeze artist, the company is committed to telling powerful, real-life stories through imaginative circus artistry.
This latest production, RPM, delves into the tragic and absurd aspects of British society, questioning whether the nation has truly confronted its colonial legacy.
Danielle Corbishley, Head of 101 and Outdoor Programmes, said:
“We’re excited to bring Gorilla Circus back to Newbury having supported them with artistic residencies at 101 Outdoor Arts on Greenham Business Park over many years. This new show RPM centres around an exciting large treadmill creating a dramatic and captivating performance full of electric moments!”
The performance is part of the Corn Exchange Trust’s commitment to innovative outdoor arts, supported by 101 Outdoor Arts: National Centre for Arts in Public Space.
