Anna Acton will join the cast of the world premiere of Blessings, a darkly funny and moving new family drama by acclaimed playwright Sarah Shelton.

The production will run at Riverside Studios from 30 September to 26 October 2025.

Acton, known for her roles in EastEnders, The Bill, Casualty and Doctors, reunites with Gary Webster, her former Family Affairs co-star, in this new stage production. Sarah Shelton also worked on Family Affairs as a script editor.

Her recent screen credits include Rivals, Brassic, Roadkill, and the upcoming detective drama McKenzie, set for release in 2026.

On stage, Acton has appeared in The Permanent Way (Vaults Theatre), The Crucible (Simmonds Theatre), Noises Off (Liverpool Playhouse), and The Gulf (Tristan Bates Theatre). Her film credits include Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, Degenerates, and Silver Birches.

Anna Acton will play Dorie, joining Gary Webster as Frank, Emily Lane as Sally, Hannah Traylen as Frances, Milly Roberts as Penny, and Freddie Webster, making his professional stage debut as Martin.

Set in a small English town in the 1960s, Blessings explores faith, family dysfunction, control, and the lies we tell to keep everything from falling apart.

The play made its debut as a shortened piece at last year’s Riverside Bitesize Festival and now returns in full form.
