Ballet de Santiago will make its UK debut at the London Coliseum from 21 to 25 September 2027 with a lavish production of Swan Lake.
The announcement follows the company’s triumphant opening performances at Dublin’s Bord Gais Theatre, with tickets for the London engagement going on general sale on Friday 21 August.
Chile’s leading classical ballet company will present its staging of Tchaikovsky’s beloved masterpiece under the artistic leadership of César Morales, the former principal dancer of Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National Ballet who returned to his native Chile in 2024 to lead the company.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s soaring score, the production tells the story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a princess condemned to live as a swan by day, whose love is tested by dark sorcery and betrayal.
Ballet de Santiago’s production is staged by Ivan Nagy and Marilyn Burr, based on the original choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
Renowned throughout South America for its technical excellence and artistic power, the company promises opulent sets, sumptuous costumes and choreography designed to showcase the emotional depth and grandeur of this enduring ballet classic.
All performances will be accompanied by the English National Opera Orchestra.
César Morales Anderson, Artistic Director of Ballet de Santiago, said: “I feel great pride and excitement at seeing the Ballet de Santiago transcend borders to bring one of the most beloved works of the universal classical repertoire to another continent: Swan Lake, in the iconic version that Ivan Nagy and Marilyn Burr created especially for our company. This is another historic step for the Ballet de Santiago, and we are delighted to share the talent, passion, and excellence of our dancers with UK audiences.”
Based at the Municipal de Santiago, Ópera Nacional de Chile, Ballet de Santiago is now celebrating its 66th year and is widely regarded as one of Latin America’s leading ballet companies.
The London Coliseum run will take place from Tuesday 21 to Saturday 25 September 2027, with detailed casting to be announced.
