Due to popular demand on their second, and much-anticipated visit to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, St Petersburg Ballet Theatre has announced an additional performance of Swan Lake.
The extra performance of Swan Lake will be a matinee on Sunday 3rd April at 1pm. St Petersburg Ballet Theatre will be joined in Dublin by guest artists from Russia’s legendary Bolshoi Ballet – Principal Dancers Anna Nikulina and Alexander Volchkov.
Nikulina and Volchkov will perform the lead roles at select performances. They will star along with St Petersburg Ballet’s own Prima Ballerina Irina Kolesnikova. The company’s season in 2019 was an overwhelming success, described by Dublin press as “exquisite, simply magnificent” (The Arts Review), “stunning to watch… breathtakingly emotional” (The Irish Daily) and “not to be missed” (Eile).
The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre’s Swan Lake is truly Russian classical ballet as it was meant to be seen, with magnificent painted sets, glorious costumes, guest artists from the Bolshoi Ballet and accompanied by the Irish National Opera, who will be playing Tchaikovsky’s iconic score.
Arguably the world’s most loved ballet, Swan Lake tells the immortal love story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. The tale will be brought to life by St Petersburg Ballet Theatre’s beautiful Vaganova-trained dancers. St Petersburg Ballet Theatre are renowned for performing classical masterpieces around the world, including Giselle, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty.
