The Bush Theatre has unveiled its exciting new programme for 2025/26, featuring a mix of new writing, community engagement, and talent development initiatives. This season marks the final programming by outgoing Artistic Director Lynette Linton, with Taio Lawson set to take over as Artistic Director and Co-CEO this summer.

In the Holloway Theatre, Miss Myrtle’s Garden, directed by Taio Lawson, explores how we acknowledge the past to confront the present. The Bush Young Company will present their fifth main-house production, directed by Katie Greenall. Superwoman Schema, starring Golda Rosheuvel and Letitia Wright, and directed by Lynette Linton, delves into the struggles of two women after the death of their matriarch.

The season continues with After Sunday, a co-commission with Coventry Belgrade Theatre, set in a Caribbean cooking class in a secure hospital. Sweetmeats, a co-production with Tara Arts, follows two South Asian elders navigating forbidden love. HEART WALL, by Kit Withington, co-commissioned with Oldham Coliseum, explores family secrets and the challenges of returning home as an adult.

The Bush Theatre Studio will host a series of shows produced by new and established companies, including Camille Koosyial, the Palestine Comedy Club, and Troupe Courage. The ALT B series will provide a platform for creatives across various art forms.

Lynette Linton, the Bush Theatre’s Artistic Director, said, “At a time when finances are being increasingly squeezed, we recognise the importance of the arts and are determined to push through with a season on new writing and community engagement. Our new season boasts new talent, as well as established artists, co-productions with some of the most exciting companies in the UK as well as new work from our outstanding Bush Young Company. Running the Bush Theatre for the last six years has been one of the biggest honours of my life and I am so proud of all the incredible artists who have passed through the building. Dan and I wanted to disrupt the canon, and I believe we have done just that with over 50 productions from the most incredible British and Irish writers! I am so proud of our wonderful last season, with more £15 tickets than ever, and I can’t wait to see all these wonderful artists grace the legendary Bush stage…also big up to the new Artistic Director, Taio Lawson – I can’t wait to witness Bush Theatre’s new chapter.”
