New production images have been released for Miss Myrtle’s Garden, now playing at the Bush Theatre until 12 July.

Written by Danny James King and directed by Bush Theatre’s Artistic Director Taio Lawson, Miss Myrtle’s Garden is a warm, witty, and life-affirming new play that explores how we confront the past to better face the present.

The cast features Michael Ahomka-Lindsay, Mensah Bediako, Diveen Henry, Gary Lilburn, and Elander Moore.

“I don’t visit the past. The past visits me.”

Miss Myrtle’s Garden follows the sharp-tongued Miss Myrtle, whose overgrown garden sits in a rapidly changing neighbourhood. Her grandson Rudy and his ‘close friend’ Jason arrive needing a place to stay, while local drunk Eddie keeps using her garden wall as a toilet.

Rudy is searching for answers about the past, but Myrtle wants nothing to do with old ghosts—or “duppies.” As her mind begins to falter, deeper questions about grief, love, and understanding emerge, and time is running out.

The production features set and costume design by Khadija Raza and lighting design by Joshua Gadsby.

This world premiere is generously supported by Charles Holloway OBE.
