Carla Mendonça will join the cast of Torben Betts’ new comedy thriller The Other Side of Murder when it embarks on a major UK and Ireland tour from autumn 2026 through to spring 2027.
Best known for her television work in Coronation Street, My Parents Are Aliens and So Awkward, as well as stage appearances with the Royal Shakespeare Company, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Oxford Stage Company, Mendonça will play Susannah in the new production.
She joins the previously announced cast, which includes Rufus Hound as TV medium Darius Divine and Susie Blake as Miriam. Also starring are Aisha Jawando as Laura, Beth Lilly as Jen and Andy McLeod as Jason, with Maddy Banks, Oliver Byng and Sarah Lawn completing the company as understudies.
Written by Torben Betts, whose previous hits include Murder at Midnight and Murder in the Dark, the play centres on celebrated television medium Darius Divine, host of hit light entertainment programme The Other Side.
What begins as a seemingly ordinary family dinner quickly descends into chaos when unexpected guests, ghostly visitations and long-buried secrets collide. As tensions rise and revelations emerge, the boundaries between performance and reality begin to blur.
Described as funny, shocking and unsettling, the new thriller promises audiences a theatrical experience packed with twists, dark humour and surprises.
The production is presented by Original Theatre in association with Theatr Clwyd. The creative team includes director Philip Franks, designer Colin Falconer, lighting designer Jason Taylor, sound designer and composer Max Pappenheim, illusion designer John Bulleid, casting director Emma Sylvester and associate director Joshua Miles.
The extensive tour opens at Theatr Clwyd in Mold in September 2026 before visiting venues across the UK and Ireland, including Guildford, Cardiff, Dublin, Blackpool, Bromley, Southampton, Northampton, Leeds and Coventry.
