Returning this October by popular demand, Unicorn Theatre’s much-loved production of Anansi the Spider will once again spin its web of storytelling magic in a vibrant co-production with Birmingham Rep.

Following a sold-out run in 2023, this joyful retelling of West African and Caribbean folk tales brings to life the legendary trickster spider through music, movement and storytelling.

The cast features Cynthia Emeagi (The Taming of the Shrew, Twelfth Night, Shakespeare’s Globe; Fool Me Once, Netflix), Elizabeth Peace (Much Ado About Nothing, UK Tour; The Devil in Me, Supermassive Games), and Becky Sanneh (House of Cleopatra, Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024; Thursford Christmas Spectacular) as narrators.

Written by Chichester Festival Theatre Artistic Director Justin Audibert and directed by Unicorn Associate Director Robin Belfield, Anansi the Spider celebrates wit, resilience and the power of storytelling for audiences aged 4–8.

The creative team includes award-winning designer Sadeysa Greenaway-Bailey, movement director Asha Jennings-Grant, musical director Duramaney Kamara, sound designer Esther Kehinde Ajayi, lighting designer Will Monks, and casting director Saffeya Shebli.
