Eleanor Lloyd Productions and Eilene Davidson Productions, in association with Rupert Gavin/Mallory Factor, have announced the return of the Nottingham Playhouse production of A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story, adapted by Mark Gatiss.

The spine-chilling festive favourite will once again haunt the atmospheric Alexandra Palace Theatre from 21 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, with a press night on 26 November.

Neil Morrissey will take on the role of Jacob Marley, joining Matthew Cottle who reprises his performance as Ebenezer Scrooge.

They are joined by Charlotte Bate as Mrs Cratchit, Michaela Bennison as Caroline, Jacob Daniels as Swing, Henry Davis as Bob Cratchit, Maya de Faria as Swing, Elliot Douglas as Tiny Tim, Michael Mears as the Narrator, Kalifa Taylor as Belle, Mark Theodore as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Lance West as Fred.

Kalifa Taylor, Mark Theodore and Lance West return to the production following last year’s run at Birmingham Rep.

Frozen in time with beautifully preserved original features, Alexandra Palace Theatre offers the perfect setting for this ghostly Dickensian tale.

“In the hands of Gatiss, Dickens’ festive tale banishes all thoughts of ‘bah, humbug.’” – Evening Standard

Mark Gatiss said: “I’m delighted that our Carol is returning once more to the Pally! I’m thrilled to welcome Neil Morrissey into this very happy Christmas family. God bless us. Every one.”

Neil Morrissey added: “I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Jacob Marley in Mark Gatiss’ fantastic adaptation of this evergreen Dickens classic. A real spooky treat for Christmas, and even better at the wonderful Alexandra Palace which is my local theatre.”

Directed by Adam Penford, the production remains faithful to Dickens’ original novel while delivering a theatrical experience filled with supernatural effects and Victorian atmosphere.

The show originally premiered at Nottingham Playhouse in 2021 and has since enjoyed successful runs at Alexandra Palace and Birmingham Rep, as well as a filmed version shown in cinemas and on BBC4.
