The UK premiere of Sing Street, a new musical based on the acclaimed 2016 film by John Carney, will open at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from 8 July to 23 August 2025.
The production, which has already enjoyed sell-out runs in Boston and New York, brings together a stellar creative team including Tony Award-winners Enda Walsh (Once) and Rebecca Taichman (Indecent), with music by Gary Clark (Danny Wilson).
The newly announced cast features Sheridan Townsley as Conor, Grace Collender as Raphina, Jesse Nyakudya as Eamon, and Adam Hunter as Brendan. Also joining the company are Tateyana Arutura (Anne), Harry Curley (Kevin), Jenny Fitzpatrick (Sandra), Indiana Hawkes (Gary), Cameron Hogan (Darren), Lloyd Hutchinson (Brother Baxter), Lucianne McEvoy (Penny), Lochlann Ó Mearáin (Robert), Matthew Philp (Declan), Seb Robinson (Larry), and Jack James Ryan (Barry).
Set in Dublin in 1982, Sing Street follows sixteen-year-old Conor as he navigates a turbulent home life and a new Catholic school. When he meets the enigmatic Raphina, he forms a band to impress her—despite not having one yet.
Director Rebecca Taichman said:
“This is a hard show to cast: we need youth, serious musicianship, killer singing and real acting talent. It’s not easy to find all of that in one human body, needless to say. Stuart Burt Casting did a bottomless search to find the perfect person for each tricky-to-cast role. Every actor feels like a miracle when you find them. I can’t wait for audiences to experience this extraordinary company at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.”
The creative team also includes choreography by Sonya Tayeh, set design by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and video design by Luke Halls. Music supervision is by Peter Gordeno, with orchestrations and arrangements by Gary Clark and Pete Gordeno.
Sing Street is a heartfelt celebration of young love and the transformative power of music, set to a soundtrack inspired by the new wave sounds of the 1980s.
