The Roundhouse today announced the line up of acts for Club Swizzle, a brand new show from the multi-award winning creators of La Soirée, that will take over the Roundhouse this summer for its UK and European premiere. The production will encompass all new outrageous cabaret, air-defying acrobatics and infectious musical revelry, backed by a live band.
Taking place around, across and above a central, functioning bar, the show had its world premiere at Sydney Opera House and has since played to sell-out audiences across Australia. Club Swizzle will run from Tuesday 31 July – Sunday 26 August.
Hanging onto the reins of chaos will be special guest host, cabaret wunderkind and Café de Paris regular Reuben Kaye (Winner Best Cabaret Show, Adelaide Fringe 2017). Kaye is a rising star of the international cabaret scene developing a reputation for his stunning voice and wicked wit.
Joining Reuben in the Club will be the electrifying and award-winning burlesque firecracker Laurie Hagen, the impeccable jazz and Big Band triple threat, Harlem’s own Dandy Wellington, and the sexy, seductive and infamous aerialist Yammel Rodriguez with her innovative and showstopping single-strap performance. Shaking things up behind and on top of the bar will be The Swizzle Boys – including Ben Lewis and Joren Dawson – acrobatic and charismatic in equal measure.
The live soundtrack for the night will be provided by the hottest live band in town, Mikey and the Nightcaps, with a repertoire as big as its bar tab. Under the musical direction of award-winning composer Mikey Lira, with Suzanne Simpson on violin, trombone and saw, Svetlana Bunic on accordion and keyboard and Jim Dunlop on drums, so long as the booze keeps flowing, so will the tunes.
Loose, glorious and irresistibly fun, Club Swizzle is a night of sassy entertainment where the mayhem gets kicked up a notch, and the charismatic, impeccable all-star cast dazzle you with ample flair — and they do it around and over the Club Swizzle cocktail bar.
Audiences will be able to arrive early for the show and enjoy cocktails at the bar with the cheeky Club Swizzle troupe. When the band starts, the bar transforms into centre stage, and it’s show time!
