Due to popular demand the Gate Theatre announces today that Dear Elizabeth by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Ellen McDougall will play until Thursday 14 February, extending the run with five further performances.

Opening to critical success the daring show showcases the talents of two different performers each night who take on the roles of poets Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell. Reading letters to each other, crafted by Sarah Ruhl from over 400 letters, the play reflects on their relationship as Elizabeth and Robert veer from platonic friends, to the promise of something more romantic, confidants and critics of each other’s Pulitzer Prize-winning poetry.

Further performers joining Ellen McDougall’s Dear Elizabeth ensemble include: Liz Chan, Paul Ready, Dickie Beau and Sam West.
