This autumn, the Roundhouse Studio Theatre will host a bold new season of performances, showcasing the freshest talent from its youth programmes.
Running from 5 October to 29 November, the season features debut plays, live music, poetic showcases, and immersive installations, all curated from submissions by Roundhouse Resident Artists, Transmission Roundhouse podcasters, and Poetry Slam alumni.
Among the highlights isĀ Golden Time (and Other Behavioural Management Strategies)Ā by Kate Ireland, returning to the Roundhouse after its Edinburgh Fringe run. Also featured isĀ ShovelĀ by Daze Hingorani, a deeply personal production developed during their residency.
Daze Hingorani said: āMaking my upcoming showĀ ShovelĀ has been a messy and tender and quite frankly, wonderfully life-affirming process. The privilege to share it at the Roundhouse, who have become so integral to who I am as an artist, as part of the new Studio Theatre Season, is something that goes beyond words.ā
The season also includesĀ CagesĀ by Zakariye,Ā Floating Space: LiveĀ by Katie Stokes,Ā The Space BetweenĀ by Maureen Onwunali, andĀ BedfellowsĀ by Beattie Green & Honey Birch.
Marla Kether, bassist for Little Simz and former Resident Artist, will hostĀ Kilengi Dance Party, a celebration of Afro-diasporic dance music.
Daisy Heath, Executive Producer at the Roundhouse, said: āThis season of work is a great example of what makes the Roundhouse so special. We were thrilled by the ambition and breadth of the different projects that Roundhouse Resident Artists and other young creatives pitched.
āAt a time when costs are rising and grassroots venues are closing, it is increasingly difficult for emerging artists to connect with live audiences. With this new season of work, Roundhouse continues its commitment to providing platforms for bold new voices, while bringing audiences unmissable live experiences.ā
Other events include the Being Poor Is Expensive Conference, Studio Scratch, GEN:Jazz, Spoke by Chloë Clarke, and The Gynodioecious Experience EP launch by Geo Aghinea.
