Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage will return to the West End for a strictly limited 15-week season at the Prince Edward Theatre from 19 January to 24 April 2027.
The record-breaking production, based on Eleanor Bergstein’s beloved 1987 film, will bring the classic love story back to London following successful runs in the West End, Paris and on tour across the UK.
Lead casting has also been announced, with audience favourite Michael O’Reilly returning to play Johnny Castle after acclaimed performances in previous West End, UK tour and Paris productions.
He will be joined by Pippa Jackson, making her professional stage debut as Frances “Baby” Houseman, and Emily Layden-Fritz as Penny Johnson.
Produced by Karl Sydow in association with Lionsgate and Magic Hour Productions, the stage adaptation is written by Eleanor Bergstein and features the much-loved characters and original dialogue from the hit film.
Audiences can once again relive some of the story’s most memorable moments, from Baby’s famous watermelon scene to the climactic finale that proves “Nobody puts Baby in a corner”.
The production also features a soundtrack packed with classic songs including Hungry Eyes, Hey Baby, Do You Love Me? and (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.
The creative team includes director and set designer Federico Bellone, choreographer Austin Wilks, music supervisor Richard John, lighting designer Valerio Tiberi, sound designer Chris Whybrow, associate director Juliet Gough, costume designer Jennifer Irwin, casting director Harry Blumenau, production manager Pete Kramer, associate producer Russ Spencer and co-producer Ivan Mactaggart.
Originally opening at London’s Aldwych Theatre in 2006, Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage went on to run for five years in the West End. Since then, the production has played in more than 11 countries worldwide, building a reputation as one of the most successful stage adaptations of a film ever produced.
