Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the musical with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, will begin a UK & Ireland Tour at Leicester Curve in May 2021. The production will bring together the original creative team from the Broadway production.
Beauty and the Beast premiered on Broadway in 1994 and would run for thirteen years. The original West End production opened at London’s Dominion Theatre in 1997 and won the 1998 Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Beauty and the Beast based on the film of the same name tells the story of a cold-blooded prince who has been magically transformed into an unsightly creature as punishment for his selfish ways. To revert into his true human form, the Beast must first learn to love a bright, beautiful young woman whom he has imprisoned in his enchanted castle before it is too late.
