Studio Wayne McGregor Resident 6 artist dkfash (Is Dat U Yh?, Brixton House; Fragments of a Complicated Mind, Theatre503) will be coming to Theatre503 with her latest interdisciplinary play this November. Offering a blend of poetry, grit and physical theatre, by their fruits will take audiences on a rhythmic journey through the poetry of love, exploring the complicated, yet relatable themes of romance and obsession. Audiences will follow this incredibly moving and poignant production presenting vignette glimpses into the lives of two lovers.
dkfash’s weighty yet funny show unpicks connection and (co)dependency, and presents a raw experimentation of one’s inner demons and self. Audiences are encouraged to enter without expectations for a no-holds-barred performance from Ivan Oyik (Doctors, BBC; Shook, Southwark Playhouse) and Reba Ayi-Sobsa (Black Mirror, Netflix; Daisy Chains, The Production Exchange) playing the roles of Him and Her, that communicate in their own poetic language. This incredible production will bring to light a rich exploration of a disorienting contemporary romance, as well as toying with themes of fixation and familial trauma set against the backdrop of a surrealist world, questioning whether they are able to find their way back to one another against all odds. by their fruits is supported by Arts Council England and the 2021 Eclipse Award which was curtailed due to the pandemic.
Winners of Albany Theatre: Artists of Change, Initiative: do.know.feel cultivates culture through instinctual, interdisciplinary and collaborative work across stage, dance and events. The independent platform is spearheaded by Creative Producer Wofai (London Theatre Consortium x MOBO Fellow; Springboard Scheme) and Artistic Director dkfash (Movement credits include National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Bush Theatre; Alumni credits include Soho Lab & Royal Court Writers’ group). Associate artists include Olivier Award nominated theatremaker Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu (For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Hue Gets Too Heavy, New Diorama Theatre; Bootycandy, Gate Theatre) and International Choreographer Patience James (BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, ITV’s X Factor, Wembley Arena).
